Trish: SDCC Day 3...and my final day

I got to head on back down to SDCC today with my hubby.  I got the pics of the "Her Universe" booth (for you Cad Bane's Chick) and got to ask some more questions of Mrs. Eckstein.  My husband and I also got to talk with Ashley's husband David for quite a while and got to know all about how the two of them got this business started.  I also got to purchase the charm bracelet with all the charms and YES (Jess) the Naboo charm will be a convention exclusive for ALL conventions this year!
Also, I asked about the Imperial Logo hat as well as more shirts.  She said they have all been created but are still in the "waiting to be approved" stage.  So hopefully by the holidays we will see more shirts.  I did get to talk to Cat Staggs in Artist Alley and she let me in on some news.  She has designed a new shirt for "Her Universe" and it WILL be out in November.  She let me know that it will be a Leia shirt and it will be a long sleeve thermal!  But for now, you can get your hands on these babies:
Lucasfilm put together this great booth to promote the pre-order and release date of Star Wars The Complete Saga on Blu Ray.  It's a replica of the War Room at the Rebel Base on Yavin 4.  We got to go in and be a part of the destruction of the first Death Star.  It was very cool!
Lastly, if you're a mom with kids between the ages of 6-17, Hasbro has a new promotion that starts August 1st!  On 8/1/2011, log onto jointhejedi.com to find out how your child can win a chance to be a part of Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 5!
Another great year at the Comic-Con Intl..  They have made it pretty impossible to be able to purchase badges for next year, but I hope to be able to make it happen again in 2012.
Thanks for letting me share it all with you!

Trish: DAY 2 (Star Wars Day)

On Fridays, I bring all the kids.  Last year, I only got to bring 2, but this year all 4 were able to join me.  I like to make us matching t-shirts, so that we are easily identified as a group.  I can keep a better eye on all of us this way.  A security guard complimented me, by telling me that they took a vote and voted me the smartest mom at the con!  Woo Hoo!  It's also fun because everyone seems to love the Jedi Crest and our "titles" on the back of the shirts.

We spend most of our day on the Exhibit Hall Floor, visiting the carefully mapped out, mom approved booths.  We did and saw so much, but I'll just share the Star Wars Highlights:

#1 - Meeting Ashley!  My daughter was not with us last year and missed out on the chance to meet her hero-Ahsoka.  So, that was our first stop.  Ashley was so great and took a couple minutes to chat with my little girl and even gave her an autograph.  We purchased the Padme Nouveau (Skywalker) shirt and she was on a Star Wars Geek Girl high all day!

#2 - My baby's 1st Con!  This was my youngest's first ever Comic-Con.  He LOVED it!  Here he is with his favorite Star Wars character-Boba Fett (Lego Booth).
#3- MEETING LANDO!!!  At the Mimoco booth, we got the chance to meet Billy Dee Williams and get his autograph.  My kids asked him some questions about playing Lando and then we got this awesome pic!  The guy is so smooth.....(this was probably my favorite part of the day!)
#4-Getting to demo Star Wars The Old Republic w/ a "Quick Queue" pass!
.....Playing the game....He looks so cute w/ the headset on...
...AND he got a shirt for playing...(highlight of his day, for sure!)

It was a great day!  Here are some more fun shots from the day:

Trish: DAY 1 (Thursday)

This was the longest day I have ever spent in my 8 years of attending Comic-Con Intl.  I spent the majority of the day in panels and did not set one foot in the exhibit hall.  My morning was filled with non-Star Wars panels, but I made sure to fill the afternoon with as much of the force as I could!
My son and I were ecstatic when we were able to make it to The Old Republic (MMO RPG) panel.  We were able to see a new trailer for the game and view the Sith prologue.  We learned that there will be 8 classes of characters to choose from.  There is a unique story for each class.  You will be able to switch classes and they have made sure that there will be no duplicate missions.  The game follows a "story & choice" format and this is BioWare's first "Full Voiceover MMO".  Voice talents such as, David Hayter, Catherine Taber and Holly Fields are featured in the game.  Pre-Orders began on Thursday on origin.com and at the end of the panel, all in attendance received a pre-order code! Woo Hoo! They finally gave us a release date (kind of)-Holiday 2011.

Next up was Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 4 Panel.  I had goose bumps pretty much the entire time!  Season 4 has been given the title- "Battle Lines".  Which, according to Dave Filoni, means "lots of Boom!".  We got to see some clips from the new season.  From the trailer, we got to see Mon Calamari and "Captain" Ackbar in action.  "Death Watch" is back and with a female captain, voiced by BSG's Katee Sackhoff.  Jon Favreau will also be returning to do the voice of Pre Vizsla. Dave also let us know that Lux, Cad Bane and Bossk will also be returning.

Towards the end of the panel, some Night Sisters joined Dave on the stage.  He shared that they were one of his favorite things in Season 3.  As a special treat for the attendees, we got to see an unfinished scene, featuring the Night Sisters, from Season 4 that even George Lucas himself has not seen yet!  Lucky us!

That was pretty much it for my Star Wars panels.  I did try to make it to the "Her Universe" panel, but couldn't due to my son and I being able to make it to an advance screening for "Captain America".  It's so hard to keep my priorities in check.  But I did receive this email from "Her Universe" and you can check out what they've been up to, so far.  I will do my best to get more info. for you over the course of the weekend.

SYFY PAIRS WITH HER UNIVERSE TO DRESS GEEK GIRLS
AT SAN DIEGO COMIC CON
SYFY & STAR WARS EXCLUSIVES AND SPECIAL PANEL FOR FEMALE FANS

With superheroes ruling the box office and latter-day pulp heroes dominating the dial, “geek chic” is all over pop culture - but despite our cultural embrace of all this "genre" goodness, geek girls are still struggling to be heard amidst the squeaky wheels of male fandom. Noticing a distinct lack of representation for the growing numbers of female fans, actress Ashley Eckstein (the voice of Ahsoka Tano on Star WarsTM: The Clone Wars) is leading the charge and taking up the cause - creating a voice for girls no longer willing to be relegated to the sidelines of popular entertainment. A year ago, she launched HER UNIVERSETM, a female genre line featuring fashionable apparel and accessories for fangirls from the beloved Star Wars franchise. These unique female-focused products are offered through her website, www.heruniverse.com or at select Sci-Fi conventions around the country.
Eckstein is quickly proving that there's more than enough room in the science fiction universe for everyone. As further evidence of that, her company, HER UNIVERSE, is premiering its all-new Syfy branded line of fangirl apparel and accessories for Battlestar GalacticaWarehouse 13 and “Syfy’s Original Movies” at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con (July 20th-24th). Included in the launch are shirts, a sweatshirt and jewelry “designed in part by women for women,” which will also be available online.
“I am so excited to be partnering with Syfy as they are a television destination for millions of fangirls,” said Ashley Eckstein. “As women, we are passionate about our favorite shows and characters and we want to show off that passion by the items we wear. Now, just like Star Wars, all of the female Syfy fans will have some feminine and fashionable pieces made just for them.”
In addition to the premiere of HER UNIVERSE’S “Syfy Gear” line, Eckstein will be offering new releases in her burgeoning Star Wars collection which includes female-focused shirts, hoodies, undergarments, hats, earrings, bracelets and more. Because of demand, Eckstein is now offering two popular Star Wars designs in children’s sizes for younger fangirls too!
San Diego Comic-Con fans are always looking for those elusive exclusives each year and HER UNIVERSE will not disappoint. Available in a limited number for purchase at this year’s convention will be an exclusive Battlestar Galactica “Toaster” necklace and a Star Wars charm which can be added to the Star Wars charm bracelet – also making its debut at San Diego.
Eckstein’s new endeavor, however, is not just about selling merchandise. She has begun setting down the roots of a movement within the Sci-Fi community to equally acknowledge the female fan base and connect fangirls to one another. For the second year-in-a-row, HER UNIVERSE will be sponsoring a special panel at Comic-Con featuring a group of distinguished panelists from film, television, comics and publishing. This year’s topic, “What Women Want in Their Sci-Fi Heroes,” is hosted by Eckstein and is scheduled for Thursday, July 21st from 6pm to 7pm in room 25ABC.
The current line of HER UNIVERSE Star Wars apparel and accessories can be found at www.heruniverseshop.com. The new HER UNIVERSE Syfy branded apparel debuts at San Diego Comic Con and online simultaneously. If you would like more information on HER UNIVERSE or to schedule an interview with Ashley Eckstein, please contact Dan Madsen at dmadsen@araca.com or at 646-922-0663.

Trish: Preview Night Re-Cap

One of our first stops of the night was the Star Wars Kinect Demo.  I didn't get a pic of my son and I both playing, but here he is.  It was so much fun!  I had a blast killing droids w/ my lightsaber, jumping over battle droids and using the force to move ships and other things!
Next stop was the Lego Pavilion.  Here's my son checking out the Endor layout:

I hit up the Her Universe booth and got to chat with Ashley.  She is so sweet and totally remembered me from last year!  Anyway, I did pick up a Naboo Charm and hope to get the rest on Friday (Pay Day!).  I will make sure to get pix of the booth and all the merchandise (for you Cad Bane's Chick!).
I did get to talk with her on the success of Her Universe.  She is very pleased with the response she got at Star Wars Weekends and it looks like Disney (land and world), will be carrying her merchandise soon in the parks!  She's very excited.  She also debuted the SyFy collection tonight and is hoping everyone loves it all just as much as the Star Wars line.  I will get to see her at tomorrow night's Her Universe Panel and will be chatting with her again on Friday.  Let me know if you have any questions you would like me to ask her.
Our last stop of the night was the Dark Horse Booth.  My son talked me into getting him Darth Vader and the Lost Command #3.
It was a great night full of swag and lots of video game playing, as well.  I'm beat and headed to bed!  More SDCC for me tomorrow!  Goodnight!

Trish: It's time...

OK Everyone....
I am about to leave for SDCC 2011!!!
Tonight, my son and I will be heading to Preview Night and getting those coveted 4-Day Passes!  We are hoping to be one of the first 100 at the DK Booth to get the Star Wars Tote Bag (Wish us luck!).
I will be taking lots of pictures over the next 4 days and will do my best to give you all a daily report.
We won't be attending all the Star Wars panels, as my kids and I are more than just Star Wars Geeks, so make sure to check out all the updates on StarWars.com and over at the TheForce.Net.  Maybe I'll get to see some of you there!  May the Force be with us all!

Trish: 'Her Universe' Comic-Con EXCLUSIVES!!!

Isn't it Pretty?

This Star Wars Charm bracelet is being unveiled at SDCC 2011!!!

According to the 'Her Universe' blog:
We plan to release a new set of charms every year, so you will want to make sure that you get a bracelet as a base for this great collectors piece. Even though we have been designing with the symbols a lot already, I felt like using the Star Wars symbols for our first charm set made the most sense. This year, we are releasing 4 charms. We will be selling an Imperial logo charm and a Rebel Alliance charm starting at San Diego Comic Con and also on our website. As our convention exclusive we will have ONLY 150 charms of the Naboo symbol available at San Diego Comic Con. Finally, for the holidays in the fall, we will be releasing a Jedi symbol charm on our website. The bracelet and charms are all sterling silver plated and the bracelet comes with a charm of our exclusive Star Wars by Her Universe symbol. The Naboo charm will retail for $12.00.

I really hope to get my hands on these!

Trish: "BREAKING: Miss USA Has Seen Star Wars"

*WARNING*: The following article featured does contain profanity.

Check out this interview and silly, yet interesting article featured over at Topless Robot.  Who says you can't be pretty and like 'Star Wars'?

I say, "May the Force be with you" - Miss USA!
