Jess: No Love for Girls at McDonalds

So....Star Wars will be returning to the Happy Meal next month, and like always it's the "Boy's Toy". Strawberry Shortcake will be for "Girls". Obviously, this shows that the mainstream media can't accept girls liking something like Star Wars. I will write on this more in the future (short for time but I really wanted to post this). I'm sorry for the lack of posts- I'm going back to school soon, so you can imagine, right?

Jess: Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher on ESB set

I will get my Celebration V stuff up soon. I am still riding on that high- I can't believe it's over :( Anyway, because I am still in an Empire Strikes Back mood and I am in love with this picture- I am sharing it with you.

Trish: Back to School-Star Wars Style

It's Back to School Week at my house and I just thought I would share some of the cool Star Wars things we picked up this year! You'll notice my son's "Cool" Yoda shirt that he wanted to wear on his first day. We purchased this and other affordable Star Wars shirts at Target. Check out their stuff (http://www.target.com/s?keywords=star+wars&searchNodeID=1041972&ref=sr_bx_1_5&x=16&y=17).
My 4 year old will be starting his Pre-K class too and we got some cool Clone Trooper shoes from Payless (http://www.payless.com/store/catalog/subsubcategory.jsp?trail=1016%3Acat80084&sort=&subCatId=cat80084&catId=cat10091&changedFacetValue=&pageNum=1&brandId=&categoryType=).
And for my middle schooler, we purchased the "Stormtrooper Unmasked" MIMOBOT (http://www.mimoco.com/shop/star-wars). You have a 50/50 chance of getting Han or Luke. We got Han (YAY!)
Many of my friends and family don't understand or appreciate my family's love (obsession) of all things Star Wars. But I knew that many of you would and understand my excitement at having found so many fun things to send to school with my kids!

Jess: Submit Questions to Ask Anna Graves! (Duchess Satine/Sugi from The Clone Wars)

Hey everybody!

I'm still getting around to posting all of my Celebration V stuff ( I still have a lot lefT) but this is something I thought we could have a little fun with. If you didn't know, I run probably the only Duchess Satine fansite-Duchess of Kalevala (linking is being wierd, so it's www.duchessofkalevala.webs.com ) . We are doing an interview with her, but I want to get as many questions as possible going. Satine seems to be featuring largely in Season 3, but I want to stress that no questions about specific details from Season 3 will be asked. Other than that, leave a comment here or on twitter and I will make sure it gets to her. Remember, Anna also played Sugi, the bounty hunter, so you can ask her about that too!

AND to tie it in to Celebration V coverage, here is Dave Filoni talking about what his plans for the future with Satine are. I took this footage with my picture camera, so it's not the best, but the other was home charging to the Last Tour to Endor party.

Amy: 501st TK Project

One of many cool things about attending Celebration V was seeing all the helmets that were part of the 501st TK Project.  As part of this project, all kinds of artists dressed up blank Stormtrooper helmets and the 501st auctioned them at CV.  The proceeds were given to the Make A Wish Foundation.  They raised over $50,000!!

The contributions ranged from Star Wars themed helmets to Avatar to steampunk to sports themed.  I took photos of every single helmet.  I'm sure the people behind me in line were thrilled!  Though, actually, most of them were taking photos too.  Here are some of my favorite helmets:

Stormtrooper + cylon

Star Wars adorable!  This is by Katie Cook.

Maori Stormtrooper helmet

Plo Koon helmet - guess who designed it?

Steampunk and stylish!

Jess- Our Interview with Ashley Eckstein at Celebration V!

It's here! Yes.... I do appear completely socially awkward in this :P I'm really not. Also, the audio is kind of bad because of how loud it was in the convention center, but most notably it's toward the end- sorry about that. Thanks to Ashley for taking the time to talk to us- she seemed busy all the time so we are very appreciative. I think we are going to chat again at New York Comic Con, so stay tuned for that.

Jess: Celebration V- Friday Review

The first thing I did when I got to the convention Friday was try to get in Mark Hamill’s line, but our ticket number wasn’t up yet. I got in Carrie Fisher’s line. When I got up for her autograph she saw my Wishful Drinking shirt and was very happy. She signed my autograph and then signed the back of my badge and drew a smiley on the front. Dad had to leave at this point to go to lunch, so we walked around a bit. When we got back, we could get in line for Mark. When we got up there, Joe asked Mark to do the Joker laugh. To my surprise he did it with a smile on his face. When I got up to him, he saw my badge and asked if that was Carrie. When I told him yes, he asked if he could add to it, so he too drew on it. He called it a “self portrait”. We then stopped by the media room. Dave Filoni was there and we got pictures with him. When I introduced myself he knew exactly who I was and told me he loved my site and my videos. The site I refer to is my Duchess Satine Fansite- Duchess of Kalevala. He was amazing! We then went to the Force Unleashed II panel for my brother. I love hearing girls play video games, but it just isn't for me, so I kinda drifted on that panel. After this me and Joe thought we could go get in line for Mark’s panel. While it was still 30 minutes before the panel, wristbands had already been given out and it was more than filled to capacity. We where really upset. As we where about to leave a crew member saw my Media badge and informed me we could stay and see if any seats where left after the wristbands had been seated. Sure enough, we got seated in the VIP section, it was absolutely amazing. I taped the entire panel, which I will try to put up. I noticed Lucasfilm has been pulling them for copyright, so I may have to wait a little while. After that we ran over to do Mark’s photo op. While in line, I met Adrianne Curry. Mark recognized us, which was really cool. Then we did Carrie’s photo op. She not only recognized me but told me how much she loved my Her Universe necklace! We then went to Dave Filoni’s Continuity panel, which was really cool. Talked about Mandalore, Cad Bane and such. After that we strolled around the convention hall for awhile till 7:00. We then had dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney- which is delicious!

Jess: The End of Celebration

Hey everyone,

I really wanted to do an update every night of Celebration, but it just couldn't happen because Friday night I was in line for The Main Event and Saturday I was at Last Tour To Endor. Look for stuff tommorrow and the rest of the week.

I do have some teasers for you though. Take these words for what you will. Ashley. Mark. Carrie. George. Fireworks. Filoni. Clone Wars. Disney. and other stuff too.

Too cryptic for you? Lets just say I have a lot panels taped as well as most of Last Tour to Endor.

and did I mention an interview with Ashley Eckstein?

Here's picture previews:

Amy: Photos from Celebration V on Saturday

I arrived in Orlando around 6am this morning.  I kept going for as long as I could, but once I nodded off during a panel late this afternoon I knew it was time to take a break for some sleep.  I also grabbed my photos from today so far off my camera.  You can see lots of costumes, amazing fan built ships, etc, Her Universe fashion show photos, and more Legos than I have ever seen here.

A few of my favorite photos from today are:

Tomorrow, I plan to visit the TK helmet project room, the Hoth Ice Bar (maybe tonight still for that one), and the Ralph McQuarrie show before I head back to the airport around 4pm.

Was an insane thing to fly out to Florida for less than 36 hours?  Probably, but you know what?  It's been absolutely worth it.

Jess: The Main Event

Sorry for no update last night guys, but I had to sleep. I got in Lucas' queue line around 3:00 a.m. But here's a quick update on what went Down yesterday. I met Dave Filoni, Mark Hamill,
Carrie Fisher and Adrienne Cury. Carrie loves the Her Universe exclusive ESB necklace. She decided she was going to destroy my media badge by drawing a huge smiley face on it. I'm not complaining. Mark later added his own self portrait (his words, not mine) It's absolutely awesome. I won't be able to post tonight as I'm going to "Last Tour to Endor" at Hollywood Studios.

Jess: Celebration V Panel Coverage- The Clone Wars Evolution

Here are my notes from the Clone Wars Evolution panel. They are sporadic. We where also sitting right behind Matt Lanter throughout the panel. I was so excited. I had met him earlier in the day.

Biggest news from panel regarding Season 3: Republic Commandos and rain will be in Season 3. Obi-Wan gets a Season 3- esque hair cut and is slowly going grey. It looks great. Anakin's hair may move in Season 3. More Mandalore. We will see more of Death Watch in the future. Satine's reign is, to quote Dave, "questionable".

Other news:
Admiral Kilian is confirmed to not be dead. Dave Filoni compares Aurra to the mother in Willow and makes the "bad mother" connection. Hostage Crisis was originally part of Season 2. It takes 10 weeks to light an episode, while at ILM it took 4 weeks to do one shot. Hondo Ohnaka's office is based off of Dave Filoni's. To all concerned, The Slave 1 is fine. George Lucas was highly influential in the Satine arc.

Jess: Celebration V- Thursday Summary

^^^^Forgive the fact I look like a total idiot there. I was really excited.

So….Celebration V. Day 1.
This is my day one report- the informal one. I’ll type up something more….legit than this. But I’d thought you’d want something like…now. Pictures will come .
So I got to the convention center at about 8:40ish. First thing I had to do was get my media badge. After being sent up and down and around, I finally got it. General Grievous. Mission accomplished. The media room is great. They have sexy couches and computers and outlets for you to use. And other things, but we’ll get there.
So I wait in the Hyperspace queue line a while. We met this awesome family of fans. I didn’t get their names but the mother had been to every Celebration and was super friendly to me and my convention cohort, my little brother Joe.
Eventually, we where let in. First thing I did was a line it to Her Universe’s booth to buy the exclusive to 150 pieces necklace. I bought it and got #138 (I think). I then introduced myself to Ashley. She immediately gave me a huge hug and was just awesome. I got hugged :D . Interview is coming. But we’ll get there.
So then we went to the autograph section. I picked up our autograph tickets on Wednesday, so we where ready to go. First, I felt it best to do Anthony Daniels. We waited a bit and then he walked up and down the actual queue line and greeted everyone. He then walks up to my brother and goes “You. Why are you here?” To which my brother responds- to meet you. Anthony says “Why” “To get your autograph” “Why?” “Because you are C-3P0” “Why” “Because you’re cool”. Anthony Daniels burst into a fit of laughter. Joe will never live it down. Anthony also commented on his Indiana Jones hat, which he got a ton of compliments about. We got Anthony’s autograph, and Anthony told me the shot I chose was from the first day of shooting and discussed with me how scared he was in the beginning. Anthony claims he is the first person to ever call him “cool” and he told our entire line. Then we went to Ben Burtt’s line. He was nice guy and honestly happy that his work made me want to pursue film editing. Next my brother wanted to meet Matt Wood. He was a super awesome guy, really nice. I jumped in on his picture. Joe then wanted to meet Jeremy Bulloch, who like Matt, is also a top notch guy, who also commented on his Indiana Jones hat. Joe then met Tim Rose, aka Admiral Ackbar. Also commented on his hat. While I didn’t jump in on his picture I did chat with is hysterical wife who was so funny. I didn’t get her name, but she is awesome.
At this point I wasn’t really feeling more autographs. Carrie’s line was too long and we had missed the Liz from My Life as Liz panel. We wanted to go to the Dark Horse panel, but also needed to find the Bounty Hunt sign up. I figured I’d stop by the ever so handy Media Room. So I leave Joe outside. I don’t find anything about the Bounty Hunt but something awesome did happen. Now Joe isn’t the type to recognize voice actors by their face. I however can. As I walk out, he hears something. Someone familiar. James Arnold Taylor, he jumps up and hits me. “Jess! OMG” He was doing interviews with some cooler than us media. So I get a little excited, I turn around and BAM- theres Matt Lanter to my right. Turn left BAM. Cat Taber. So while Cat and James where being interviewed I walk up to Matt and I ask him can I please get a picture with you? He opens his mouth and , what do you know, Anakin is speaking. He is so sweet and says sure. We take it and I ask if Joe can get one, which he responds sure. Score. We then wait till James and Cat where done. A family walk up to them- I can’t remember when they where there. I think there was 3 boys- one cuter than the next. James and Cat gave them each free autographs and pictures . It was all very heartwarming to see such fan interactions. One boy was celebrating his birthday, I can only imagine his stories later in life. We then ask James and Cat for pictures and they, like Matt are more than happy to oblige. We take them and walk away. We both then freak out on the escalator up to the Bounty Hunt Room, only to be sent back downstairs. (Later on in the media room I saw Dave Filoni, but he was chatting with the ForceCast guys- don’t want to mess with them :D Just Kidding- I <3 those dudes)We then go to the Dark Horse Panel. I took some nice pictures. It was a great panel, but I won’t cover it. It’s been covered numerous times on sites and it’s all straight up news. Next was the Disney booth. We are big Disney fans so this was a big deal. I bought a pin. Joe bought the Starspeeder 1000 and a Last Tour to Endor shirt.
We then started the Bounty Hunt at 2:00….an hour later an overwhelmed us, who while they had all the answers gave up. Wasn’t worth the time to us. We went to the art show, which I purchased the most adorable sketch of Mara Jade from Katie Cook- my favorite Star Wars artist. We then decided to be frozen in carbonite at the StarWarsShop.com Booth. My brother was very excited to see the Starkiller one. While in line for the Carbonite one, we met this AMAZING lady from ClubJade.net , which is my homepage. She started a conversation about my Her Universe necklace and it went from there. She gave us ClubJade.net bracelets and took my picture. If you ever find this post- please contact me- because you are awesome :D I know it wasn’t Dunc, whose name and face I can put together.
I then ran over to get Nick Gillard’s autograph. We talked about Hayden and Ewan…..and stunts. And we took a picture. Super nice guy.
After this we went to the Clone Wars Evolution panel. Oh my gosh that …. Rain. And Matt Lanter sat infront of us throughout the panel. Full report on that coming. Spoiler- Obi-Wan’s hair is going grey and he got a hair cut in Season 3……meaning he is moving towards Episode 3. Oh and Republic Commandos are going to be in Season 3….No Big deal right?
After that I had a collecting epiphany. Joe tells me he’s opening his Starspeeder 1000. At first I’m like Darth Vader at the end of Episode 3. (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) But Joe teaches me a valuable lesson. Collect what you want. In this moment I make an autograph switch in my intended purchases. I see Orli Shoshan has no line, so I go up to her. She was on the phone and I felt bad, but she hung up and apologized. She is so sweet and beautiful. I told her Shaak Ti is one of my favorites and she was like “Oh Thank You”. She gave me a big hug. I then go to Amy Allen’s line and realize that I don’t like any of her pictures available so I go but the Mettalix one of her. It’s great cause I got a pin to go with it. I then get back in line and get her autograph. She is also very sweet. She tells me how glad she is Aayla is still so popular. I tell her that it’s because of the lack of female characters. She smiles and agrees with me. We chat a little about female characters, Aayla and Shaak Ti. We then take a pictures, which came bad, but what ever and part. She gave me a hug. At this point Joe says to me it's unfair that I get hugs from all the pretty girls. I try to explain its a girl thing. He then confesses to me that he is in love with Ashley Eckstein. He is honestly saddened to hear she is married to David Eckstein, the former MLB MVP.
We then went to the Celebration Store to pick up my program and buy a shirt. Then we got inline to play the Force Unleashed II Demo…..but they turned the lights off on us. Grrr…
I know I have left out a lot, but this is a good summary of what we did today.
Oh yeah, and some where in there we ate food. Not important. I heard a woman behind me at the Clone Wars panel that it got to 6:00 before she realized she hadn’t eaten. I can totally see why.
Day rating------ 18/10 :D

Amy: Celebration V Exclusive Prints

I'm wrapping up my shopping list for Celebration V, and with as many exclusive prints as I'm drooling over I need to just devote a whole room to Star Wars.  Oh wait, it could look like the Millennium Falcon!  Done and done.  Here are the prints at the top of my list.

Katie Cook

Tom Hodges

Cat Staggs

Rebel Scum has a great PDF listing all the art exclusives.

Jess: Celebration!

Sorry that I've been missing, but I have been in Orlando, Florida in Walt Disney World and preparing for C5! I picked up my autograph tickets and hyperspace lanyard today. I will try to update every night, but no promises. Monday you will see a lot of news. I will try to tweet on our @ouruniversesw tag, but like I said, no promises. I'd rather take beautiful pictures to show you after than grainy pictures on my phone during the show. Any last minute questions? Email me at trainspotting0@gmail.com ! I'll write back as time allows

Amy: Celebration V

I am beyond excited to be heading to my first Star Wars Celebration! Even though it will be a very rushed trip (only 36 hours in Florida), I look forward to seeing lots of costumes and meeting fellow fans.

I need to make a list of the exclusives I want to grab and exhibitors I need to visit. I'm really hoping to snag one of the Her Universe Empire Strikes Back necklaces, but I will be surprised if any are left by Saturday. I've just started to look through the panels. Since it is my first Celebration though, can anyone give me advice? Is there anything I should not miss?

For example, since I'm getting there Saturday, will there even be exclusives left? I know some vendors only sell a set amount per day, but I don't think everyone follows those guidelines. Should I be prepared to wait in line for a while at the CV store?

Thanks for your help!  I hope to see some of you there!

Trish: That's Me!...

Ok, so I was checking out the new hoodie and necklace at the "Her Universe" website and looked at the fan comment listed on the home page and realized it was quoting ME!!! I might be a little over excited by this (yep!), but I'm not heading to CV and this is about the most exciting thing that's going to happen to me this week!

Jess:The Clone Wars: Shaak Ti action figure

Not much "news" here, but I thought this was really cool. Can't wait to see her in The Clone Wars!
